The ultimate guide to New York City: Gossip Girl Edition

“Hey upper east siders! Gossip girl here and I have the biggest news ever!” Those words were the start of one of my favorite shows that came on TV! As a fan, when I found out I was going to New York back in 2019, I needed to see the locations myself. I’ve been 2 more times since and I’m still seeing some cool spots from the show. Read on to see what places are must sees for Gossip Girl fans.

Note: I am only writing about places I have seen to date and will update with more as I travel!

1. The metropolitan museum of art. Blair Waldorf is infamous for sitting on the steps of the Met. Even going so far as not letting anyone sit above her. While the exterior is the most shown part on the show, they do go inside once to meet Blair and Chuck to find out they’re getting married at stop 2

2. Central Park. There are so many spots from Central Park from the show, but I wanna discuss 2 in particular here. This bridge and the besthesda fountain. The bridge is near a duck pond where Blair would occasionally feed ducks and the fountain is where chuck and Blair got married!

3. The Empire Hotel. When chuck took over Bass Industries he initially struggled with the company trying to be like his father. He decided to stop and be his own person deciding on buying a bar, which happened to be in the hotel. After struggling to buy it due to liquor license issues, he decided “why buy just a bar, when I can buy the whole building”. Thus for, he owned the hotel and the penthouse suite upstairs.

4. Laduree Paris. We all know queen b has a love for macarons but the show doesn’t hang much on where she gets them from, so I always wondered. But after a few more watches, I noticed where she went when prepping for her wedding, Laduree Paris. They have 2 locations in NYC, and based on her living in the upper east side, I’d say she went to the one on Madison Ave.

5. Pulitzer Fountain. The fountain located outside of the Plaza Hotel is a small stop in the show, but alas still there. When Eleanor hires Serena to model her clothing line she’s upset to discover that Blair was left out despite them telling her she was going to be included. They then decide to steal the clothes and have their own photo shoot, and this fountain is one of the stops.

6. Grand Central Station. When we first meet the characters, we are initially introduced to Serena Van Der Woodsen who is arriving on a train into Grand Central Station. It’s a beautiful sight to see and I recommend whether you're a fan of the show or not!

7. The Saint Regis Hotel/Harry Winston. In the show, gossip girl we meet a character named Carter Baizen. When he is in the city visiting in season 3, while dating Serena, he is staying at the hotel. And as for Harry Winston, while the show showed us the stop in Paris, there is a stop in NYC. It’s where chuck bought Blair’s engagement ring from.

8. Tiffany’s. We all know how much Blair Waldorf loves Audrey Hepburn. One of her favorite movies is Breakfast at Tiffany’s. In one of her dream sequences we see her as Audrey in a Tiffany’s inspired dream.

9. Empire State Building. When chuck and Blair have a fallout, Chuck tells Blair to meet her at the top of the Empire State Building to confirm she still loves him. I am not gonna explain further more what happens as I’m not a fan of it. But the building is extremely iconic as well.

That’s all I have on this list for now, but I will definitely be checking out more stops on potential future visits to the city! Don’t forget I am a travel agent, so I am able to book your trip to the big apple for you. I can book a CityPass, which allows you to visit attractions around the city like The Met and Empire State Building. Fill out this form here for a free quote!
